This was not a quick search. It turned into a three-hour research project.
I wanted open-ear clip-on earbuds with a confirmed Qi wireless charging case. But Amazon filters were unreliable, manufacturer pages often left the feature unclear, and many video reviews skipped over charging entirely.
Lots of listings. Lots of reviews. Very little certainty.
That’s the problem: the important detail was often the one nobody clearly confirmed.
Features That Matter Most to Me:

- Case/Battery
- Mic Quality
- Brand & Support
- Comfort > App > BT > Controls > Color > Sleep
I assume we’re far enough into the future—heading into 2027—that comfort, Bluetooth reliability, controls, and the basics should already be solved. I’m willing to accept “good enough” in those areas, as long as the important features actually work.
The comfort and convenience of charging a device without a wire will always be one of the best features. Just set it down and let it charge… no cable to find, plug in, or remember. It removes one more small task from a lifetime routine.
Open-Ear Clip-On Earbuds, That Actually Have Qi Wireless Charging
I ended up buying the EarFun Clip 2, and I would recommend them. They checked the boxes that mattered most to me without spending a fortune.
That said, if I really fall in love with the open-ear format, I’ll probably research the next wave of releases before upgrading. Brands like Bose may have a newer, more complete option on the way—and when I upgrade, I want the latest, most refined version.
And, deep down, I still want Sony/Bose to win me over. They have a long history of making great audio products. But with their current open-ear options, I’m not sure they’ve nailed it yet.

I was this close to buying the Shokz OpenDots 2…
All my research pointed there. They looked like the best option—especially since I wasn’t considering HUAWEI. But getting to that answer was more frustrating than it should have been.
The chatbot research was a mess. Conflicting specs, questionable claims, and answers I couldn’t confidently trust. I spent a solid hour double-checking things that should have been simple.
To be fair, the chatbots did help surface a few products worth looking at. But the real breakthrough came from @pickyaudio. He shared an Excel spreadsheet that made comparison fast, clear, and actually useful.
Then there were the Amazon reviews. Helpful? Sometimes. Confusing? Absolutely.
One customer would say the case supported Qi charging. The next would say it didn’t. That kind of contradiction sent me into repeat mode—back through the same open-ear clip-on earbuds, the same listings, and the same questions.
Side note: the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds looked really good.
But the wireless charging situation was a dealbreaker. A separate case cover is not the answer. For a product at that price, Qi charging should be built into the case—not sold later as an extra accessory.
I would have seriously considered them otherwise.
